Chicago Southside Birth Center

The Southside of Chicago is currently experiencing a maternal health desert and with the closing of Mercy Hospital in  Spring 2021, the Southside will have only 3 birthing options , which is down from 7 over the past 2 years.  Boosting Black Business is campaigning to support Jeanine Valrie Logan, CNM and Karie E Stewart , CNM both Certified Nurse Midwives in the Chicago and Chicagoland communities to boost their Black Business and bring a birth center to the Southside. Nationally Black women and birthing people are 3-4 times more likely to experience a pregnancy related complication or death prior to delivery, during delivery, or after delivery of their baby. In Chicago, Black women and birthing people are 6 times more likely to have this experience than White women and birthing people. The Chicago Southside Birth Center with assist to address these disparities and fill the Maternal Health gap by providing a much needed alternative option for Black mothers and their families. The funds from this campaign will directly support the financial goals to opening the Chicago Southside Birth Center in 2021. Boosting Black Business is asking for your support to help us assist in bringing  a birth center to the Southside of Chicago. Donate today.
